Spaghetti & Sardines

Simply the best way to use your tinned sardines!

Tinned sardines are too many times victim of their reputation. “They smell bad”, “they are gross” and a lot of other bad comments have been said about them. In my opinion tinned food in general, if used in the correct way, can be a cheap opportunity to create amazing plates.

Let’s have a look at how to make this one.

Ingredients for 2 people:

  • 140g Of spaghetti;
  • 125g Of tinned tuna with olive oil;
  • 1 Garlic clove;
  • 4/5 Small branches of parsley;
  • A pinch of salt.

Process:

Very first thing to do is to fill a pan with water and wait until it’s boiling. Just before the water reaches the boiling temperature add a punch of salt. Only when the water is boiling and has previously been salted you can put the spaghetti.

Check on the spaghetti’s package for how much time you need to cook them. There are many different types that have different cooking times. Just stick on what’s written on the pack.

If not, just go by tasting it, you will know when it’s ready.

When the Spaghetti are cooking cut the garlic and the parsley in very fine pieces.

Only when your pasta is at four minutes from being cooked, throw inside another pan the garlic, the parsley and the tinned sardines. Remember not to throw away the olive oil within the sardines as its gonna be used to mix the tastes. Let the ingredients cook on a medium-high flame for three minutes. Turn the flame to the minimum down after the third minute.

When the spaghetti are ready, drain them and pour them into the pan where the sardines are cooking. With the flame still on, mix the ingredients very carefully for a couple of minutes and serve.

That’s the end of it, all the ingredients are perfectly mixed together. The results are amazing! This incredible meal will give you a taste of what the mediterranean flavor is like. And the most impressive thing is that we used tinned sardines!
